Day 44: Biological Dentistry and Teeth
Biological Dentistry, Harmful Fluoride and Mercury, Root Canal Cover-Up by George E. Meinig, Cilantro for Mercury Detox, Proper Oral Care and Successful Self-Dentistry
“As yet, I have not found a single group of primitive racial stock which was building and maintaining excellent bodies by living entirely on plant foods. I have found in many parts of the world most devout representatives of modern ethical systems advocating restriction of foods to the vegetable products. In every instance where the groups involved had been long under this teaching, I found evidence of degeneration in the form of abnormal dental arches to an extent very much higher than in the primitive groups who were not under this influence.” – Dr. Weston A. Price, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration
Welcome to Day 44!
The information we have for you today is on Dental Health. One of the big surprises for many of us in our nutritional journey is learning just how impactful dental health is on the integrity of our immune system and overall well-being. Below we are going to look at Teeth, the practice of Biological Dentistry, the poison in your toothpaste and tap water which is Fluoride, Root Canals, Proper Oral Care Practices, and Raw/Vegan Foods and Dental Health. FIRST, let’s talk about the Raw/Live Vegan Diet and Dental Health, because my and my colleagues’ years of experience in this domain is particularly prescient here.
Raw Foods Diet and Dental Health
Does a Raw Vegan Diet benefit dental health? The answer? YES, and a definite NO. It is a matter of timing for both children and adults, as you will see. Let’s look at several points:
Point 1: The Raw Food Family – the Boutenkos (www.rawfamily.com) found that during their first few years of eating raw was that their dental health improved dramatically. Then, it began to wane and they had more dental caries than ever before. What was going on? Mainly, they discovered, that because they were snacking throughout the day, they were keeping their mouth in a constant state of eating/digesting, altering the pH, which led to greater tooth decay. Imagine eating 3x/day and the lifetime decay that causes. Now eat smaller meals/snacks 9-12 times per day and you can actually accelerate tooth decay. The solution? Train yourself to sit down to 2-3 large meals/day, with only a few snacks, instead of steadily snacking all day. Also, rinse your mouth out with water immediately after eating to clean the teeth and gums of whatever you were eating.
Point 2: As an Adult, if you have been eating a processed or Standard American Diet for many years, your oral health will improve dramatically in the first year or few years of eating Raw/Live Vegan. This is partly due to the reduction of processed sugars in your diet, and also due to the fact that you are probably more in touch with the care of your body on the whole, so everything including your dental health, benefits.
Point 3: Children. We in the Raw/Live Vegan community are seeing rampant tooth decay among children who are raised as Raw Vegans. This indicates several things. One: there are nutritional deficiencies for children on an unsupplemented Raw/Vegan Diet. Two: the Raw/Vegan Diet is often high in fruit and snacking, as the Boutenko family found out. This is very deleterious to teeth long-term.
Katrina and I have seen many Raw Food kids from well-meaning, informed Raw/Vegan parents – and across the board those infants and toddlers have decaying teeth.
What to do? FIRST READ SHAZZIE’S POST HERE: http://shazzie.com/life/articles/raw_vegan_children.shtml
Her main point on Raw/Vegan children is proper supplementation. Including:
+ Soya lecithin for choline (and egg for the same reason since turning four)
+ Viridian Vitamin D3 (sun exposure may be enough, depending on skin colour and location).
+ Vitamin K2 from Mercola.com (we can’t synthesize enough K2 and it’s essential for bones and teeth).
+ Ortho Bone Vegan (contains K2, but not enough, B12 and essential bone health co-factors).
+ Vegan DHA and EPA(long-chain fatty acid, essential for brain growth, especially up to two years of age).
+ Ionic iron (not always necessary to supplement but may be worthwhile up to five years due to faddy eating).
Full Disclosure: We read Evie’s Kitchen by Shazzie before we had our first child, Sophia in 2009. We looked at the teeth of Raw/Live Vegan children. Katrina and I have moved ahead on the Spectrum of Diet to an Integral Dietetic, and that has meant including animal products for both Katrina and Sophia (and David). They are mainly local and organic. We also use the supplements listed above. And Sophia’s teeth are beautiful.
Teeth and bones are dynamic living tissues that are constantly being replaced and rebuilt. To support this process, both calcium and phosphorus are required in a 1:1 ratio. Most people follow a diet high in phosphorus (foods such as: cooked rice or grains, nuts, potato and com chips, and meat), but they do not balance their diet with easy to assimilate calcium-rich foods (green-leafed vegetables). This creates an acid-condition which leaches calcium from the bones, and especially the teeth, to neutralize the acid, thus leading to tooth weakening and decay.
Biological dentistry stresses the use of nontoxic restorative materials for dental treatment and focuses on the impact that dental toxins and hidden dental infections can have on overall health. THIS FILE IS A MUST READ from Alternative Medicine: The Definitive Guide, which I HIGHLY suggest that you add to your health library. It is one of the very best compendiums of health and nutrition information available. If teeth have been a concern for you, seeing a biological dentist may be an important next step for you in taking care of you! There is a great Biological Dentist just north of Houston, TX. Dr. William Glaros, DDS Inc. Phone: 281.440.1190 Fax: 281.440.1258 http://www.biologicaldentist.com17222 Red Oak Drive, Houston, Texas, 77090 USA I have seen Dr. Glaros personally, and can attest to his integrity and ability in this field.
From the file, “If after reading this anyone decides to have chemotherapy, suggest that this person has been drinking too much water containing sodium fluoride.
There is ample evidence that sodium fluoride, which is extreme toxic, is used as rat poison, and is being added to many municipal water systems in the U.S. has an effect upon the brain that dulls the mind a makes the victim susceptible to suggestion.
Prior to World War II, Nazi Germany added fluoride to the drinking water of German people. Could that have been the reason that Hitler was able to pull the wool over the eyes of his gullible countrymen? Is this the reason that Communist Russia began to use it? Why is it happening in America? To stop tooth decay? No! Definitely not for dental reasons, for it has been proven that sodium fluoride in drinking water has increased dental decay as well as many other problems.” We have several profound videos to the right on Fluoride, including The Fluoride Deception: Interview with Christopher Bryson. In this video, Christopher Bryson, an award-winning journalist and former producer at the BBC, discusses the findings of his new book The Flouride Deception.
Root Canals: Is There a Cover-Up? A discussion of the issue, with an excellent interview with George E. Meinig, author of “Root Canal Cover-Up,” which is one of the books read as part of the Masters in Vegan/Live Food Nutrition with Gabriel Cousens, M.D. This is a great file – I hope you enjoy the information today. When I began putting this day together, I did not expect it to be so engaging and vast in scope and implications. Teeth are important, and there is a lot more to dental health than fluoride, brushing three times a day, and seeing your dentist.
We have some excellent information for you on this topic today, most notably our files on Mercury Detoxification; Cilantro for Mercury Detox; and the Biological Dentistry File. Once you read these, you will see a plethora of strong reasons to remove mercury from your teeth, and from your physiology in skillful ways!
Oil Pulling for Oral Health
This is a new addition to the Juice Feasting Nutrition Course, and to the Juice Feasting Morning Practices. After several years of looking into this topic and applying the practice personally, we have decided it is high time to encourage you to integrate this one into your dental life practices. Oil pulling significantly cleans up your oral health, including up into the deep pockets between your gums and your teeth where toothbrushes and even dental floss cannot reach. People report better breath, reduction of oral thrush, elimination of gingivitis, a tightening of loose teeth, and end to bleeding gums, and even the healing of minor dental caries. For the lowdown, check out today’s file!
Significant Interviews on Oral Health
We also have for you an incredible presentation of audio interviews for you at the bottom of today’s page on healthy Dental Strategies and unhealthy conventional dental practices from some of the top people in the emerging field of discussion about natural dental health.
If all this talk of Dentists and teeth gives you the willies, check out Bill Cosby on Dentists in the videos to the right. We have placed it on this Day for you to add some laughter to a topic that has historically been more sad that it should be going forward for you!
See you in The Green Room!
Phosphoric acid in sodas nearly as damaging to teeth as battery acid by NewsTarget Staff
According to a report published in the March / April edition of General Dentistry, phosphoric acid in soda causes tooth enamel erosion, even with minimal exposure. While some consumers may believe that sugar is the only culprit of soda’s adverse effects on dental health, enamel erosion occurs whether…

Light therapy stops tooth loss in dental patients with periodontal disease by David Gutierrez
A light-activated germ killer slowed the progression of periodontal disease in rats over the short-term, according to a study conducted by researchers at Sao Paulo State University and published in the Journal of Periodontology. Researchers hope that this can eventually be adapted into a treatment for humans.
You don’t need expensive technology to save your gums. Simply sticking your tongue out at the sun and exposing your gums to sunlight for a few minutes each day can have much the same effect. Sunlight kills most of the strains of bacteria that grow in your mouth.
Natural Tooth Care by Brigitte Mars
As children, most of us had twenty teeth. As adults, the norm is thirty-two, some people who lose their second set of teeth get a third one – from their dentist! Many teeth problems can be helped with good nutrition and proper care.
The Fluoride Fiasco: Poison in Your Water by Dr. Gary Null
There’s nothing like a glass of cool, clear water to quench one’s thirst. But the next time you or your child reaches for one, you might want to question whether that water is in fact, too toxic to drink. If your water is fluoridated, the answer may well be yes.
For decades, we have been told a lie, a lie that has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans and the weakening of the immune systems of tens of millions more. This lie is called fluoridation.

[Public Talk] David Kennedy: Fluoride is a Toxin
This recording was made during one of Dr. David Kennedy’s numerous presentations at medical conferences around the United States. I applaud his (and Jeff Green’s) tireless efforts to educate both the public and the medical and dental community on the truth about fluorides hazardous effects on health. It is a true fraud and indication of how money and power corrupts, that we still use this chemical in water supplies, drugs, and tooth pastes in our country.
