Juice Feasting™ | The Preparation Course

Modern Challenges

In almost every part of the world, we are feeling more and more beset on all sides from to challenges to our health.

Many of us have had serious health challenges, are currently challenged, or fear the future health of themselves and those they love. The Founder of Juice Feasting himself, David Rainoshek, spent over $50,000.00 on his medical expenses before he discovered Juice Feasting and healed years of debilitating health challenges (See David’s Story here).

From the high personal and society costs of medical care, to thousands of agro- and industrial toxins in our environment, Genetically Modified Foods, the reign of Big Pharma in the Medical community (your doctor is skillfully incentivized to offer you drugs and surgery over diet and lifestyle solutions), the bad news seems to be getting worse.

We are being handed our hats.

But the fact is, you’re here with us. You value your Health Freedom, your personal ability to see after your own health in a self-reliant way. You are tired of being a victim - or have no intention of being a victim of industrialized food production and medicalized sick care now or in the future. You have a sincere desire to be the change we need; a light and inspiration to others… because the toughest thing to see in this world is unnecessary suffering - and its everywhere.

If you remember watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood as a kid, you may remember this advice from Fred Rogers:

We need helpers. And to the Modern Challenges we will cover below, we need a Bona-fide SOLUTION that covers a lot of bases, for a LOT of people. It is our Mission, our Purpose, to provide a solution to these large and seemingly intractable issues by offering Juice Feasting to you, those you love, and to the world.

We are so glad you are here. You are the courageous helpers Mr. Rogers is referring to. Thank you.

On this page, we present some of the data on the bad news, to make abundantly, presently clear the imperative for GOOD NEWS and Skillful Means to answer these challenges to our health and the well-being of life on this planet.

As truly great as the challenges we currently face are, the problems we have before us are being solved at levels of thinking higher than those that created these problems in the past and in the present.

THIS is what Juice Feasting, The Spectrum of Diet, and the 92-Day Juice Feasting Nutrition Program are all about.

Now, for a brief overview of some of the BAD NEWS that we must powerfully answer, individually and collectively.

Our Food is Not Real

We Are Increasingly Overweight

The latest data from the National Center for Health Statistics show that 30 percent of U.S. adults 20 years of age and older – over 60 million people – are obese, our most visible symptom of ill health. 65% of Americans are overweight or obese. By 2015, projections are that 75% of Americans will be overweight or obese, and this is not limited to adults. The percentage of young people who are overweight has more than tripled since 1980. 16% of children and teens aged 6-19 years, are considered overweight.

Why we are overweight is a no-brainer. Americans at the beginning of the 21st century consume more food and several hundred more calories per person per day than in the late 1950s or the 70s. The USDA’s Economic Research Service data suggest that average daily calorie intake increased by 24.5 percent, or about 530 calories, between 1970 and 2000. Of that 24.5-percent increase, grains (mainly refined grain products) contributed 9.5 percentage points; added fats and oils, 9.0 percentage points; added sugars, 4.7 percentage points; fruits and vegetables together, only 1.5 percentage points.

In 1999, medical care costs relating to obesity alone were estimated to be $70 billion. In 2002, a mere three years later, the US Surgeon-General report listed these costs at $117 billion. It is now 2013, and as you can see from the first video on this page, it ain’t getting better. This level of obesity triggers over 300,000 premature deaths each year. This is not all. Add another $30-40 billion out-of-pocket money that we spend trying to keep off the weight in the first place.

We Are Purposefully Distracted and Misinformed

We sure are going to a lot of trouble to fight the war on terror, yet where are the heads of state giving an all hands on deck to eradicate heart disease or diabetes – almost entirely preventable and heal-able conditions that could save millions of lives and trillions of dollars?

The powers-that-be in government are influenced by powerful corporate interests and lobbying groups that skew resources and education away from preventative and natural healing modalities and towards GMO corn, soy, wheat, processed foods (and their billions in advertising dollars to influence children) and Big Pharma.

Our Medical Expenses Are Skyrocketing

As we have spent less on our food over the last 80 years, our medical expenses have shot sky-high:

In 2012, yearly health care spending in the United States reached $3.1 trillion, and will reach U.S. $3.8 trillion in 2019.

Yes, you read that correctly, and it should shock you. This number dwarfs U.S. military spending by six times, and that military spending is greater than that of the next 25 countries combined. We are spending a megaton of money on health care… strike that… SICK CARE.

If you like geeky data (like me), you can read this report: National Health Expenditure Projections 2007-2017.

Heath Care premiums are going through the roof in the U.S., as well. It’s unsustainable at our level of sickness as a nation… so we are going to need to be less sick to bring this cycle of high expenses to a close. Take a look at where we are at, and where we are headed at our current state of health:

And it is not just that we are sick that is causing high health insurance costs. It is also Big Medicine that is jacking up prices and gouging customers.

Consider this interview: Steven Brill on “Bitter Pill: Why American Medical Bills are Killing Us” on the PBS News Hour:

A recent study says that medical bills cause financial troubles for more than 2.2 million Americans each year, and medical expenses account for about half of all U.S. bankruptcy filings. 75% of bankruptcy filers have medical insurance but fall upon financial hard times anyway when their policies either lapse or do not cover certain illnesses.

And, as you may have seen in Michael Moore’s recent film, Sicko, it is not affordable to be sick in the U.S.

Food Expenses. We spend $1.3 Trillion on food each year, 95-97% of which is processed wheat, dairy, meat, corn, sugar, and soy. These foods are making us sick, as you will see.

By Juice Feasting, shifting our food choices, and becoming the healthy, switched-on people we have the potential to be, we can truly shift close to $4 Trillion dollars of the U.S. economy each year, making what we are talking about here the greatest act of social change now available.

Why are shopping the produce section, eating a cucumber, drinking a green smoothie, and being healthy such revolutionary acts? First, we are going to look at our modern health challenges, and then investigate what the science is behind Juice Feasting and a life-affirming plant-based cuisine.

In future writing on this page, we will continue this line… but you can see, the bad news is pretty bad. But, the worse it gets, the better it gets… because it is obvious we need a significant development (or developments) to come on the scene and heal our unhealthy state in the U.S. and the westernized world at large.

What we need is a Bona-Fide Solution to our Food and Health Challenges… and that is coming up next!
